THE STORY OF THE AVERAGE BEAR BAKING CO.
Finding Community in Gluten Free Food
My name is Brittney Peidl and I am the founder and owner of The Average Bear Baking Co. In 2020, after years of seemingly mysterious health issues, I was the first and only member of my family to be diagnosed with Dermatitis Herpetiformis Celiac Disease and began a strict gluten free diet. Less than a year later, my 3-year-old daughter was also diagnosed with Celiac. As my health improved and our household adjusted to a gluten-free life, I became increasingly disenchanted with the high cost and small portion sizes of prepared gluten free foods in stores and the lack of allergen-friendly restaurants in my rural community. In the South, food and family are synonymous to good times and cherished memories; no one should be excluded because of an allergy or inability to pay luxury prices.

I believe all food should be safe, accessible, and delicious. At The Average Bear Baking Co., my mission is to bring you the comfort of my favorite Southern classics with none of the uncertainty of cross-contamination or inflated costs common with gluten free options. I can promise 100% Celiac - safe baked goods at realistic prices, because gluten- free living isn't a trendy or profitable notion to us - It is our health and livelihood.
Thank you for your business, and welcome to our family!
